Original article: «El día después de Dominga»: Nuevo podcast invita a mirar el futuro que aún estamos a tiempo de evitar
The international environmental organization Oceana has launched the podcast «The Day After Dominga,» which, through three episodes, emotionally and realistically explores what could happen in the Humboldt Archipelago if the controversial mining and port project, Dominga, moves forward.
Featuring the voices of local fishermen, families, tour guides, and farmers, the series reconstructs potential losses and urgent decisions regarding this business initiative that aims to establish itself in an area of immense ecological and social value.
«This is not just a story; it serves as a warning. Whether fiction becomes reality depends on us,» stated Oceana Chile during the podcast’s launch, which includes performances by notable Chilean actors Octavia Bernasconi and Andrew Bargsted.
In this context, the NGO reminded listeners that «the Dominga project seeks to build an open-pit iron and copper mine, alongside a mega port in one of Chile’s most valuable marine areas, the Humboldt Archipelago. This ecosystem is home to unique species, whale migration routes, and critical zones for birds and artisanal fisheries.»
