Netanyahu Rejects Ceasefire While Civilian Attacks Continue El Ciudadano

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has refused to uphold the agreement reached between Iran and the United States (USA), which includes a two-week ceasefire applicable across all fronts, including Lebanon, where the Israeli air force has intensified bombings, leaving a trail of destruction and civilian casualties.

What initially appeared to be a ceasefire in the Middle Eastern conflict quickly fell apart following statements from Netanyahu, who explicitly excluded Lebanon from the agreement, a stance deemed a blatant violation of the pact by Tehran and various nations and international organizations.

In the early hours of Thursday, the Israeli air force continued its attacks on Lebanese territory, resulting in further deaths and devastation after the massacre from the previous day, as evidenced by videos and recordings circulating on social media.

According to reports from Al Mayadeen, Israeli aircraft bombed a residential neighborhood in the city of Zrarieh, killing civilians and injuring dozens.

Violence erupted simultaneously in Al-Abbasiyah, in the south of the country, where a similar attack caused panic among the population.

The level of destruction reached extreme levels in the town of Al Duwayr, in southern Lebanon. According to the report from Al Mayadeen’s correspondent, an airstrike directly hit a two-story house at the eastern entrance of the town, «completely destroying it and causing a fire among the rubble, which was extinguished by Civil Defense teams.

The Israeli offensive also targeted the Al Shahabiyah area, with bombings reaching vital communication infrastructure, particularly the Al Qasmiyah Bridge, which connects Saida and the Tyre district.

The human toll of this escalation has been recorded by the Lebanese Ministry of Health, which reported that the number of casualties has risen to 260 killed and over 1,200 injured. These figures, corresponding to Wednesday and expected to increase in the coming hours, highlight the ferocity of the Israeli attacks against the Lebanese civilian population.

Israeli Massacres in Lebanon and Violations of the Ceasefire

Wednesday’s events were marked by a series of Israeli airstrikes that spread across several regions of Lebanon, causing massacres in the capital, Beirut, and its surroundings, as well as in the south, Bekaa, and Mount Lebanon.

The paradox of these bombings is that they occurred just hours after news broke of a ceasefire agreed upon by Iran, the United States, and their allies that included Lebanon and all other fronts. This truce was reached after U.S. President Donald Trump accepted and committed to fulfilling the ten-point plan presented by the Islamic nation.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted thatthe two-week ceasefire does not include Lebanon” and later reaffirmed his intention to continue assaulting the Arab country.

Iran deemed this stance a flagrant violation of a fundamental term of the ceasefire and warned that violations would result in severe consequences.

In fact, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard threatened to respond to Israeli forces unless they cease bombings against the cedar nation.

In a similar vein, the Islamic Resistance Movement of Lebanon, Hezbollah, warned in a statement that «the blood of the martyrs and the injured will not be shed in vain,” reported Al Mayadeen.

International Condemnation Against Netanyahu

The rejection of the Israeli aggression and the exclusion of Lebanon from the ceasefire did not remain limited to the directly involved parties. Various governments and international organizations raised their voices to condemn the violations of the Zionist regime.

Pakistan labeled these aggressions as “undermining the spirit of peace,” while Yemen reaffirmed its support for Lebanon and its Resistance, showing solidarity in critical moments.

The Iraqi government also spoke out strongly, denouncing the ‘savage attacks perpetrated by the ‘army’ of the occupation in Lebanon’ and urged the international community to take responsibility for this situation.

From the Arabian Peninsula, the Sultanate of Oman joined the chorus of criticism, denouncing the aggression and calling for actions to deter ‘Israel’ and demand it take responsibility for its crimes.

In Europe, voices also called for corrective measures. The Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Álvarez, clearly stated the need to include Lebanon in the ceasefire agreements between Washington and Tehran. Meanwhile, France, through its president, urged to “respect the ceasefire in all areas of confrontation.

From the Islamic world, the Al Azhar institution described the attacks by Israel as “a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of all international and humanitarian agreements and norms.”

In the USA, Democratic Congressman Robert García urged Washington to ensure that Lebanon is included in any ceasefire agreement and joined the criticism of the bombings ordered by Netanyahu that have claimed the lives of hundreds of civilians.
